CES provided the signalization, hardwire interconnection, signing
and pavement marking designs as a subconsultant to Infrastructure
Engineers, Inc. for the widening of Thacker Avenue from Donegan
Avenue to West Carroll Street in Osceola County, Florida for the
City of Kissimmee. The project involved the reconstruction of the
existing 2-lane rural facility to a 4-lane divided curb and gutter
roadway. CES provided plans for the construction of a new four pole
mast arm signal at the intersection of Thacker Avenue and West
Carroll Street utilizing video for vehicle detection. The signal was
designed to be compatible with the City’s urban area pre-emption
system, and included the City’s special requirements for red light
confirmation fixtures, an uninterrupted power supply, internally
illuminated street name signs. The final design also included the
addition of delineated bike lanes and placement of underground
conduit for future interconnection of West Carroll Street to the
City’s fiber optic signal system. The project required close
coordination with City’s proposed improvements along the north end
of Thacker Avenue.
