This 2.5-mile section of US 27 in Polk County was widened from an
existing
4-lane rural section to a 6-lane suburban section without
reconstructing the existing roadway. Services included design and
right-of-way survey and mapping, open drainage design, geotechnical
investigation, utility coordination and environmental permitting
with the SFWMD. The project required a pond siting report, ditch
calculations and stormwater management facility design. Decorative
lighting was provided to accommodate the City of Haines City
requirements. This roadway is part of the FIHS system and the design
was coordinated with projects to the north and the south.
